Are you interested on becoming a foster carer for Inverclyde HSCP?

You may be interested in permanent or temporary fostering or offering a short break to a child already in foster care.

Foster carers for Inverclyde have a dedicated social worker who offers support and advice. Foster carers have regular supervision with their allocated social worker. Inverclyde HSCP offers training for foster carers. In addition, we organise foster carer support groups which allow foster carers to come together to share experiences, good ideas and support one another.

Fostering is a hugely important part of the Children & Families service. Offering a safe and secure home, even if only for a short time, can make such a difference to a child. Children can come in to foster care from birth and remain in our care until they are 21, if there are permanent care arrangements in place.

In Inverclyde we have levels of foster care which depend on your skills, qualifications and experience. All foster carers are paid an allowance and from level 2 and above, foster carers receive an allowance and an additional fee.

The Fostering service provides support to foster carers who are approved by Inverclyde HSCP. Foster carers are part of a team around a child and work in partnership with social workers, school staff, health staff and anyone else who has an involvement with a child in their care.
